How many templates belong in an audit sample?
Procurement questionnaires sometimes ask for “100% of pages.” On CMS sites that is rarely economical. We negotiate a template list that covers layout variants and critical journeys instead.
Start with journeys
Identify tasks a court, patient, or student must complete. Map each step to a URL pattern. If three journeys share one checkout component, that component is in scope once—not three times because marketing added different hero images.
Include edge templates
Empty states, error pages, and print-friendly views often escape design review. We add at least one “no results” screen and the 404 page to every sample.
Document exclusions
Archived press releases from 2012 may be out of scope if they are rarely linked. Write that down in the statement of work so stakeholders know legacy debt remains.
